Is it possible to create the perfect online business? Perhaps not. But you can come pretty close by making sure that it contains three essential ingredients. Get these right, and the rest will take care of itself.
Everyone one wants the solutions to their problems to be cheap, easy, and immediate. No one wants to pay more than is necessary, struggle to implement a solution, or have to wait for very long to get results.
And those are the three ingredients that when combined in the creation of a solution to any problem, will make it sell.
You already know that your products should be designed to solve a prospect's problem. And you also know that you must tell them that you have the solution. But if your product costs too much, is hard to put into practice, and takes time to work, no one will buy it.
Let's consider for a moment each of these indispensables to a great product.
1. Cheap
This is about perception. If I show you two products that apparently do the same thing, but one costs a lot more than the other, then the less expensive one will seem cheap by comparison.
Although it's foolhardy to attempt to compete on price - you'll always lose - you can beat your competitors by offering enormous value. What does that look like? Value isn't necessarily quantity. Many internet markets attempt to entice people to buy by offering 20 bonuses that together are worth thousands of dollars. But, a savvy shopper will ignore all that if none of them, including the product on offer, solves his or her problem.
So whether or not a product or service is expensive depends on what you compare it to. If you product delivers an effective solution quickly, and almost no one else can do that, then even a high price will seem low.
2. Easy
Again, this is relative. Think of all the free software you've downloaded that didn't live up to its promises. Now think of those exceptions that did. In a connected world, solutions have to be easy to understand, and easy to implement.
Most people don't buy computers and software so that they can spend every waking moment trying to figure out how to make it all work together. For the majority it is a tool; a means to an end.
If the steps in your product are easy to follow and put into practice, then you're on your way to a successful sale.
3. Immediate
Let me ask you something. How long are you willing to wait for a site you're visiting to load? 1/2 second, one second, or at a stretch 3 seconds?
That should tell you a lot about how much time people want to wait before they want to see positive results from using your product. If it takes them ages to set it up and a 100 page manual full of technical jargon to understand it, you're wasting your time and effort by evening offering it.
