Why Is Fuengirola So Popular for Foreigners?

Fuengirola was a modest fishing village not so long ago, over the past couple of decades or so, Fuengirola saw an enormous influx of expatriates looking for a new life in the sun as well as many foreigners from all over Europe as well as outside Europe visiting and staying in Fuengirola for their holidays.

Fuengirola has grown into a modern and bustling large town with a good range of amenities and acts as a centre hub for numerous satellite large urbanisations within its vicinity such as Mijas Costa and right along the coast up to Calahonda.

Fuengirola is located some 28km West of Malaga city, it is accessible via the dual carriageway which then turns into the AP7 toll road or via the old N340 which is the coastal road taking you past locations such as Torremolinos and Benalmadena.

Fuengirola became very popular with those in search for property for many reasons, however, the top five reasons are:

1) Beaches - Excellent sandy beaches

2) Affordable property prices, this lead to a building frenzy in order to keep up with the high demand from a foreign market looking for good value property.

3) Closeness to Malaga International Airport, just a few minutes by car or by taxi.

4) Facilities within the town - Plenty of amenities and facilities can be found in Fuengirola such as supermarkets, shops, cinema, shopping centres, Clinics, weekly markets and much more.

5) Public Transport - Fuengirola is the final stop on the train, the train line runs from Malaga to Fuengirola.

In addition to this, it would be fair to say that many people who visited Fuengirola either on a package holiday or on an independent holiday saw what Fuengirola has to offer and were tempted in to purchasing property.

Over the years, Fuengirola grew and grew to the point in which it is hard to distinguish where Fuengirola finishes and Benalmadena Costa starts other than by a signpost!

Even in the midst of a crisis, the demand for property for sale in Fuengirola has not diminished as much as in other locations and there are still many buyers in search of their ideal property for sale in Fuengirola.

Many people visiting Fuengirola on holiday have been impressed by the Zoo, over the years it has been turned into a great attraction for locals and visitors alike. One other location within Fuengirola which attracts many visitors is the port. Whilst this remains as a relatively modest fishing port, there are numerous bars and restaurants which attract many visitors. One final point of attraction in Fuengirola is the weekly market which is famous for its wide variety of items for sale and it is possible to find some great bargains!
